Let’s get this out of the way: if you’ve never met another Asten… you’re not alone.
Because neither have I.
And guess what? That’s not just my personal experience — it’s statistically true.
- Only around 70 people in the US have my name.
- It doesn’t even crack the top 1000 baby names in the UK.
- Some sources suggest fewer than 50 people have ever been named Asten here.
So yes — I’m basically a unicorn.
Growing up, I never found my name on mugs, keyrings, or novelty pens (though I did once find an “Austin” air freshener — close, but not quite). I used to get called Aston, Ashton, even Arson once — thanks for that, Year 8.
But over time, I’ve grown to love the rarity.
My name doesn’t come with assumptions. It’s mine.
No exes, no famous villains, no clichés — just me.
There’s something oddly comforting in knowing I don’t have to “stand out” — my name already does that for me.
And to think, my parents just liked the sound of it. That’s it. No big story.
Still, I like to think of Asten as sounding like a mix of stardust and chaos — which, let’s face it, suits me.
🌪️ Daisy’s Corner:
“Okay but let’s be real. If I had a rare name, it would be something like… ‘Havoc’. Or ‘Danger’. Or ‘Daisy’, because apparently there are loads of us but I’m still the most iconic.
Also, if you name your kid Asten now, you owe us royalties. Or at least snacks.”
Have you ever met someone with your name? Would you want to?
Or is it kind of nice being a one-name wonder?
Let’s talk.
