Sometimes a story sneaks up on you. You don’t plan it, you don’t sit down with a detailed outline — it just arrives, full of feeling, waiting to be written.
That’s what happened with Amber and Jonas.
It actually started in the most unexpected way: as a Basil Brush fanfic when I was a teenager. Yep, you read that right. Boom boom! 😂
Back then, I didn’t realise I was laying the foundations for something that would grow into a full book series — but looking back, it makes perfect sense. That was my first real attempt at writing characters I cared about. Amber and Jonas were born from that early love of storytelling, humour, and emotional chaos.
Over the years, the series evolved — and so did I. Now, Amber and Jonas is so much more than its origin story. It’s a reflection of all the things I care about: awkward love, found family, mental health, neurodivergence, and the kind of friendships that survive everything (yes, even Daisy Carter).
Writing it has helped me work through my own stuff — the fears, the joys, the messiness of being human.
These characters feel like old friends now. Comforting, real, chaotic, kind.
So no, it’s not just a book.
It’s a piece of my heart.
And if you ever decide to read it, you’ll be holding that piece — glitter, chaos, and all. 💫
