✨ Top 5 Stimmy Bops (AKA: Songs That Slap So Hard They Make Me Flap) ✨

If you’ve spent more than five minutes with me, you’ve probably heard me say “This is a stimmy bop” at least once. Music has always been a safe, joyful space for me — and certain songs hit that sweet spot where I can’t help but flap, bounce, spin, or sing at full volume (yes, even in public — sorry, not sorry).

So I thought it was time to share my top 5 stimmy bops — the songs that light up my brain in all the best ways.

1. Video Killed the Radio Star – The Buggles

This is the stimmy song right now. Retro, catchy, dramatic — it hits every dopamine button in my brain. I’ve got it on repeat like it’s 1979 and I’ve just discovered colour TV. The goosebumps? Unreal.

2. Don’t Stop Movin’ – S Club 7

If you’re autistic and this doesn’t trigger full-body joy stims, are you okay? (Kidding… kinda.) This one makes me move. It’s pure serotonin. It demands a bop, a wiggle, a spin — and I happily obey.

3. Girls Just Wanna Have Fun – Cyndi Lauper

This one’s got happy stims baked in. I hear it and I’m ten again, spinning around my living room in socks. Pure nostalgic joy. No notes.

4. Firework – Katy Perry

This is one of those songs that feels like a build-up to a massive emotional stim release. I flap, I sing, I feel my chest fill with pride. It’s like auditory glitter.

5. Stop – Spice Girls

The rhythm in this one? It’s like it was written for stimming. And yes, I do the choreography. And yes, Daisy does it better. More on that below.

“You forgot the most important stimmy bop of all time: Word Up by Little Mix. I don’t even walk to that song, I STRUT. Also, stop pretending you invented the Stop dance. That was me in Year 4, thank you very much. Also, play ‘Blame It on the Boogie’ or I’m reporting this post for being joy-deficient.”

Music is stimming. Singing is stimming. Dancing is stimming. Let yourself feel it. Let yourself move.
