There are some days — maybe even weeks — where everything just feels flat.
Not bad. Not dramatic. Just… blank.
Nothing sparks joy, excitement, or even interest. The playlists sound dull, the projects feel pointless, and even the things you usually love don’t hit right. And in the middle of all that you realise:
“I don’t feel like myself.”
That’s where I was earlier today.
The spark dimmed. The colours faded. I couldn’t find my way back to the version of me who gets excited about birthdays and blog posts and nostalgic nonsense. I didn’t know what I needed — I just knew I didn’t feel right.
But instead of brushing it off or trying to force myself out of it, I did something different:
I sat with it. I unpacked it. I said it out loud.
And then, something surprising happened.
I realised I was slowly — very slowly — starting to come back to myself.
Not in a dramatic way. Not with fireworks or breakthroughs.
Just a soft flicker. A little shift. A moment of clarity that said:
“You’re still here. You didn’t go anywhere. You’re just resting.”
What Coming Back to Myself Looks Like
It’s not always big. It’s not always loud.
Sometimes it’s:
- Feeling a familiar song hit a little differently again
- Wanting to share a thought or a blog idea
- Remembering you have things to look forward to
- Smiling at your own weird sense of humour
- Or, just realising that the fog is starting to lift
If You’re in the Flat Place Too
Please know you’re not broken.
You’re not lazy. You haven’t lost yourself. You’re just paused. And that’s okay.
Even if you don’t know what you’re feeling.
Even if you don’t know why.
Sometimes the most powerful thing you can do is say it out loud:
“I don’t feel like myself.”
And then trust that slowly… eventually… you will again.
Coming back to yourself is not a race.
It’s a return. And you can take your time.
Daisy’s Corner:
You lot go off to find yourselves. I’ll be here causing chaos and listening to 00s bangers like a legend. xoxo
